Is the cold and snowy weather bringing you down? Don’t despair! Springtime is fast approaching along with it longer days, April showers, budding Crocuses and the 2018 Archdiocesan CYO Art & Essay Cultural Events.
The County Level CYO Art & Essay Contest will be administered by the Staten Island CYO Office, located at 120 Anderson Avenue, Staten Island, 10302. All submissions must be sent or dropped off to this address. Entries sent to any other location will be disqualified.
The deadline for submissions of the County Level CYO Art & Essay Contest is Wednesday, April 11th 2018.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place County Essay Contest winners and County Art Contest winners (from each division) will be judged on the Archdiocesan level.
The winners of the County Level CYO Art & Essay Contest will be submitted to the 2018 Archdiocesan CYO Art & Essay Cultural Events by the Staten Island CYO County Director. The Archdiocesan winners, of both the essay contest and the art contest, will be personally invited to attend the Art & Essay Award Ceremony to be held on May 18, 2018 at the Terrance Cardinal Cooke Catholic Center, 1011 First Avenue, New York, NY 10022.

CYO Art Contest Information
Who Can Enter
Art will be judged in the following age divisions:
Small Fry - First and Second Grades
Beginners - Third and Fourth Grades
Learners - Fifth and Sixth Grades
Masters - Seventh and Eighth Grades
Experts - Ninth and Tenth Grades
Elite - Eleventh and Twelfth Grades
Only flats in the following media will be allowed: pencil, pen, paper, oil paint, scratchboard, colored pencil, pastel, acrylic, charcoal, crayon, cray-pas, finger paint, magic marker, watercolor and mixed media (a combination of any of the above). Numbered pieces will not be accepted.
Size of art piece is not to exceed 18 x 24 inches including the matting. Please DO NOT submit work with frames and glass. We will not be responsible for any breakage.
A 3 x 5 inch index card with the artist’s name, Parent/Guardian e-mail address, address, telephone number, grade, county, division, and name of school or parish must be affixed on the reverse side of the art piece.

The winners of the County Level CYO Art & Essay Contest will be submitted to the 2015 Archdiocesan CYO Art & Essay Cultural Events by the Staten Island CYO County Director. The Archdiocesan winners, of both the essay contest and the art contest, will be personally invited to attend the Art & Essay Award Ceremony to be held on May 15, 2015 at the Terrance Cardinal Cooke Catholic Center, 1011 First Avenue, New York, NY 10022.
In addition, the County Level winners will be recognized at the CYO Wine & Cheese Event to be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at The Excelsior Grand. Invitations will be sent directly to the families of the winners. If the art work has been returned from the Archdiocese in time, it will be displayed at the event and returned to the artist at the end of the event. The remaining art work can be picked up at the CYO Center, located at 120 Anderson Ave., Staten Island 10302, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
